Freedom Prep Girls Rugby Wins Tennessee State Championship

[Memphis, Tennessee, May 11th, 2019] Westwood/Whitehaven’s first-ever girls rugby team has seemingly done it all.  Two Tennessee 7s State Titles, 3 USA All-American selections, 8 USA South selections, one NCAA Ivy League scholarship recipient, a globally viewed Nike documentary…  Yet one accomplishment has long evaded the Eagles until now.

Freedom Prep traveled to Spring Hill, TN and earned their first-ever 15s state title in a dominant effort vs Columbia Central from Middle Tennessee. This was an emotional victory, especially for the 11 graduating seniors who have spent 4 years building one of the most dominant sports teams in West Tennessee history.

The soon-to-be MICR alums are headed to destinations both near and far to advance their education and rugby careers- University of Memphis, Christian Brothers University (CBU), Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), Dartmouth College, Lee University, and more.

Stay tuned for these young leaders to be making real impact in their communities for years to come.
